My Vision

Wow - this blogging thing is really interesting...  especially because I haven't really gotten the word out about it so no one is viewing it yet!  Ha ha...  Well, I think it is important to share what my vision for the Sky Valley Natural Market is.  So here I go...

My vision is of a market that sells natural food from local sources.  I would love for everything I sell to come from the state of Washington, from companies and farms that share my belief in decreasing our carbon footprint and increasing the quality of our food and community.  I know there are crafters out there who would love to have your beautiful work displayed in a place where people care that a local person put their time into it.

My vision is of a market with a space for community, a space that allows for impromptu meetings, as well as planned ones...  And because I know my family will be spending a lot of time there, it will be a comfortable place for young and old.

My vision is of a market that at its heart is a place to educate, to transform.  There will be classes ranging from cooking and nutrition to canning and sustainability.

I am ready to be the change I want to see in the world and this market is my way of doing it.

So, what am I doing to get the ball rolling???  Well, I am enrolled in an online course at Everett Community College called "Small Business Essentials" and this will lead me through the process of putting everything in order to start this business.

This will happen my friends.  Please check in for updates and give suggestions.  This  is our market!

This blog will also be a place of information and community as this journey caries on...  please be a part of it and share it with anyone you may think is interested!

Until the next post - Casey

Hello!

Well hello there!

My name is Casey O'Roarty and I have been a resident of the Skykomish Valley since June of 1996. I am currently in the process of opening a much needed natural food market here in Monroe, Washinton. This blog page is a place for me to share the journey with all of you. Please check in frequently to see what is happening and to share your thoughts and advice with me. My vision for this market is that it will be a place for good food and good community. It's well past time to get local!
